Greenvolt Group has secured a financing package of EUR218m from UniCredit for its Ełk and Turośń BESS projects in Poland (Greenvolt press release, 27/08/2026). The package comprises EUR153m in bridge financing and a EUR65m guarantee facility, supporting project-related costs at both sites. According to Greenvolt, the financing agreement builds on previous cooperation with UniCredit on utility-scale renewable energy projects across Central and Eastern Europe, including in Poland, Romania and Hungary.
Located in north-eastern Poland, the two projects have a combined capacity of 400 MW/1.6 GWh, with each facility providing 200 MW/800 MWh. The Turośń Kościelna was officially inaugurated in July 2026, while the Ełk project is expected to reach commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The projects rank among the largest battery storage developments in the country and are intended to improve grid flexibility, support the integration of renewable energy and strengthen energy security. These developments are in line with Poland’s goal to reach a share of 32.1% of renewables in gross final energy consumption in 2030 (51.8% for electricity), and to cut GHG emissions by 54% (compared to 1990), according to Enerdata’s Global Energy Research.
