Texas LNG Brownsville, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Group, has signed a definitive 20-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with RWE Supply & Trading for the supply of 1 Mt/year from the Texas LNG project in Texas (United States) to Europe and other global markets (Glenfarne press release, 15/01/2026).
- The deal represents about 13 cargoes of LNG and 1.4 bcm/year of natural gas.
- The deal allows Glenfarne to focus on finalizing the financing process to achieve a final investment decision (FID) on early 2026.
The planned export terminal, with a total capacity of 4 Mt/year, is located at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. It is planned to be developed in two phases (2 Mt/year each) with the start of operations scheduled for 2028. The facility is expected to reach completion by 2029.
The project has also secured long-term offtake commitments from EQT Corporation, Gunvor Group, and Macquarie Group, as well as its respective approval from the US FERC in August 2025 (KEI, 27/08/2025).
