Glenfarne will develop the 20 Mt/year Alaska LNG export project (US)

The US energy firm Glenfarne has signed an agreement with state-owned Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) to develop the Alaska LNG export terminal at Nikiski, Alaska (United States). The project requires an estimated US$44bn investment to export LNG to Asian markets and South-central Alaska. AGDC expects the Alaska LNG deal to be finalized in the next few months, after which front-end engineering and design (FEED) should start.

The project consists of a 20 Mt/year liquefaction facility (three trains) and a 1,300 km pipeline to transport gas from northern Alaska across the state. The Alaska LNG terminal already counts with pre-FEED work and its corresponding federal approvals, with Phase 1 expected to start operations by 2030 or 2031 with the installation of the gas pipeline.

Houston-based Glenfarne Energy Transition is a subsidiary of Glenfarne Group, founded in 2011 to address long-term global energy demand growth through the supply of LNG, grid stability solutions, and renewable power.
