Santos schedules the Australian Gladstone LNG project sales to reach up 6 Mt/y by the end of 2019 and remain at that level. This figure is still below the plant's full capacity of 7.8 Mt/y. The company is under pressure to deliver more gas into the domestic market to avoid export restrictions. The LNG plant produced 2.4 Mt in the first half of 2017 and shipped 42 cargoes.
Santos is the operator of Santos Gladstone LNG (Santos GLNG), with a 30% interest. Its co-owners are Petronas (27.5%), Total (27.5%) and Korea Gas Corp (15%). The 7.8 Mt/y LNG plant consists of two trains commissioned respectively in September 2015 and May 2016. Santos GLNG is supplied with natural gas coming from the Surat and Bowen Basins fields (Queensland, Australia).
The LNG is mainly sold through four 20-year contracts of which 1.8 Mt/year as of 2016 for Kogas and 1.7 Mt/year as of 2016 for Petronas.
