The German state-owned energy group SEFE Securing Energy for Europe, formerly Gazprom German, and Canada’s Ksi Lisims LNG have signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) for an LNG supply deal (SEFE press release, 27/05/2026). Under the agreement, SEFE will purchase 1 Mt/year of LNG on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, with deliveries expected to begin by the early 2030s, for up to 20 years.
Ksi Lisims LNG is a proposed floating natural gas liquefaction (FLNG) plant with a marine terminal located on the northern coast of British Columbia (Canada). It would export up to 12 Mt/year (or 22.4 bcm/year) of LNG. The agreement is contingent on the finalisation of a definitive Sales and Purchase Agreement between the two parties. Once concluded, this would be SEFE’s first partnership with a Canadian LNG supplier.
SEFE was nationalised in 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It supplies more than 200 TWh/year of gas and power to more than 50,000 clients, from small businesses to municipalities and multinational organisations. The company is expected to be privatised by the end of 2028.
