The German federal government has announced it will assist the country's four largest high-voltage energy transmission systems operators (TSOs, including Amprion, 50Hertz, TransnetBW, and TenneT) by granting them a €12.8bn aid for grid usage fees in order to stabilise usage fees. Grid usage fees are invoiced in monthly electricity bills and constitute roughly 10% of customer costs and 33% of the cost to industrial companies.
Consequently, the four TSOs stated that they would be increasing their grid usage fee to a nationwide €3.12c/kWh for 2023 to stabilise energy transmission grids across Europe and face rising labor and equipment costs. In 2022, the fees stand at €2.94c/kWh for Amprion, €3.03c/kWh for TransnetBW, €3.04c/kWh for 50Hertz and €3.29c/kWh for Tennet.
