German LNG Terminal executes key contract for 8 bcm/year LNG import project

German LNG Terminal has executed the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with CS Gas North, which is a joint venture between COBRA Instalaciones y Serviciosand SENER Ingeniería y sistemas for its the 8 bcm/year Brunsbüttel onshore LNG import terminal project located in Schleswig-Holstein länder (northern Germany). The terminal will consist of an LNG regasification plant, which could be expanded to a capacity of 10 bcm/year at a later stage, two LNG tanks with a capacity of 165,000 m3 each, as well as and a jetty with two berths for LNG carriers and smaller LNG ships. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026.

The company has also signed agreements with ConocoPhillips, INEOS and RWE Supply & Trading (as foundation customers) for long-term regasification capacity in the terminal. In the meantime, German LNG Terminal will instal a 3.5 bcm/year floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) in Brunsbüttel. The project, which would reach a capacity of 5 bcm when fully commissioned, will be split into three phases, with separate facilities being commissioned between the end of 2022 and December 2023.
