GE Vernova wins turbine order for 3 onshore wind projects (1.4 GW) in Australia

GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business has signed a strategic framework agreement with the Australian energy company Squadron Energy to supply wind turbines for three onshore wind projects of a combined capacity of 1.4 GW in New South Wales (Australia). The AUD2.75bn (US$1.8bn) agreement consists in GE providing 6.0-164 wind turbines, engineering, procurement, and construction expertise through its consortium partners CCP to the 414 MW Uungula, 700 MW Spicers Creek and 400 MW Jeremiah wind projects. The Uungala Wind project is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2024.

In January 2024, Squadron Energy committed to develop 14 GW of renewable capacity in Australia by 2030. This capacity, which will be made up of wind, solar and battery projects, represents a third of the Australian Government's renewable energy target (82% of electricity generated from renewable energy by 2030), and would be able to power about 6 million Australian households.
