GE Vernova wins order for EVN's 1.6 GW Quang Trach II LNG plant (Vietnam)

GE Vernova has announced that it has secured an order for two 9HA.02 gas turbines and two H78 generators for Electricity of Vietnam’s (EVN) Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant in Vietnam. The new CCGT power plant will have an installed capacity of more than 1.6 GW, and commercial operations are expected by 2030 (GE Vernova press release, 23/06/2026).

The power plant will be built by an EPC consortium consisting of Power Construction Corporation of China and LILAMA Corporation. It will use imported LNG, which will be re-gasified and used to fuel the gas turbines in a combined-cycle configuration to generate electricity more efficiently.

A Memorandum of Understanding between EVN and GE Vernova was signed in March 2026 to explore potential opportunities in HVDC technology, to help strengthen grid reliability and support greater integration of renewable energy.
