Gazprom's UGS facilities reach potential delivery of 812 mcm/d (Russia)

Russian state-held energy company Gazprom has reviewed the operational readiness of the Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) facilities in Russia for the upcoming peak loads in late 2018 - early 2019. According to the group, its underground gas storage (UGS) facilities have reached a record potential maximum deliverability of 812.5 mcm/d for the 2018–2019 withdrawal season, which is 7.2 mcm/d more than last year and 31% more than in the 2010–2011 autumn/winter season. This figure marks an absolute record for the company and for the Russian gas industry.

As of 2018, Gazprom operates 22 UGS facilities including 26 storage reservoirs in Russia, 17 of which are located in depleted gas fields, 8 in aquifers and 1 in a salt cavern. The company's UGS network currently provides between 20% and 40% of the supplied natural gas during the heating season.

Gazprom also has access to several UGS facilities in Europe as a co-investor, in particular in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Serbia and the Czech Republic, with a combined storage capacity of 5 bcm and a withdrawal rate of 83.3 mcm/d.
