Gazprom's gas production in 2021 rose by nearly 14% (Russia)

Gazprom has released early 2021 statistics on its Russian gas production and exports: the group's gas production in Russia soared by nearly 14% (+62 bcm) to 515 bcm in 2021, covering a significant part of the global gas consumption growth in 2021. The group transported 258 bcm of gas through the national gas transmission system to supply Russian gas consumers, i.e. 32% more than in 2020 and the highest volume since 2013; Gazprom built a total of 2,700 km of gas pipelines in Russian regions, broadening access to natural gas.

Gazprom's gas exports beyond the former Soviet Union rose by 3.2% to a record level of 185 bcm, with higher exports in 15 countries, including Germany (+10.5%), Turkey (+63%) and Italy (+20%). Gas exports to Western Europe are expected to ramp up in 2022 with the planned commissioning of the 55 bcm/year Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to Germany. In addition, gas exports to China continued rising, outstripping contractual obligations.
