Gazprom plans to start laying the foundations of the Amur gas processing plant (GPP) in August 2017. The commissioning of its production trains will be synchronized with the development of Gazprom’s production capacities in Yakutia and the Irkutsk Region.
In April 2017, China Petroleum Engineering & Construction (CPEEC) was engaged in the construction of the GPP under the framework of an EPC contract. CPECC will design, manufacture and supply equipment such as the gas fractionation units. The general contractor managing the construction is NIPIGAZ, while Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk (affiliate of Gazprom Group) is responsible of the project.
The Amur GPP is located near Svobodny (Amur region) and will have a design capacity of 42 bcm/year and it is expected to be the largest GPP in Russia, including also ethane (2.5 Mt/year), propane (1 Mt/year), butane (0.5 Mt/year) and helium production facilities (60 cm/year).
The plant will be used as an essential link in the process chain of natural gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. The gas will be received from the the Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centres, which are being established by Gazprom within the Eastern Gas Program while the processed gas will be delivered to China.
