Gazprom completes offshore section of TurkStream pipeline (Turkey)

Russian state-held oil and gas company Gazprom and its construction operator Allseas Group have completed the construction of the offshore section of the TurkStream gas pipeline project in the Black Sea. The construction of the Turkish-Russian interconnection project is now entering its final stage and the commissioning is currently scheduled for late 2019.

TurkStream includes an offshore segment of 930 km and an onshore segment of 225 km on Turkish land. In Turkey, the receiving terminal is being constructed near the settlement of Kıyıköy (near Istanbul), while a landfall has been built near the Russian town of Anapa (near Krasnodar), where the offshore pipeline will start.

Turkstream will consist of two strings of 15.75 bcm/year each (total capacity of 31.5 bcm/year), delivering Russian gas to Turkey and its European neighbours. The first string of the gas pipeline is intended for Turkish consumers, while the second string will deliver gas to southern and south-eastern Europe.
