Gazprom commissions Ukhta–Torzhok-2 45 bcm/year gas pipeline (Russia)

Russian state-run energy company Gazprom has commissioned the 45 bcm/year Ukhta-Torzhok 2 gas pipeline located between the Yamal peninsula and the gulf of Finland (Russia). The construction of the 970 km long project started in 2015. It is meant to supply additional gas from the Yamal peninsula to northwestern Russia for the needs of domestic consumers and for export purposes, including via the Nord Stream pipeline.

The pipeline has joined the Russian Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) and is now connected with other gas trunklines, namely Bovanenkovo-Ukhta (57.5 bcm/year), Bovanenkovo-Ukhta 2 (57.5 bcm/year) and Ukhta-Torzhok (45 bcm/year) gas pipelines.

Meanwhile, Gazprom also begun operations at a third and final unit at its Bovanenkovo gas field on the Yamal peninsula. With the launch of this unit, Bovanenkovo is expected to each a projected capacity of 115 bcm/year, which will be conveyed through the aforementioned pipelines.
