Gazprom commissions Bovanenkovo–Ukhta 2 gas pipeline (Russia)

Russian gas giant Gazprom has commissioned new facilities around the Bovanenkovskoye oil, gas and condensate field in the Yamal Peninsula in northern Russia.

The Bovanenkovskoye field is estimated to hold 4,900 bcm of gas reserves and the first two production facilities were commissioned in 2012 (60 bcm/year) and in 2014 (+30 bcm/year). The number of wells has been raised by 88 to 391 and new booster compressor stations (total capacity of 160 MW) have just been commissioned. The gas production level will then be able to rise from 218 mcm/d to 264 mcm/d (+21%). In the medium term, a third production facility should be built at the Bovenkovoskoye field.

In addition, Gazprom has just commissioned the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta 2 gas pipeline, a 1,260 km-long gas pipeline of 57.5 bcm/year, that doubles the existing transmission capacity between Bovanenkovo and Ukhta to 115 bcm/year.
