Gaslog delays FID on Alexandroupolis LNG FSRU to late 2018 (Greece)

The Greek shipping company GasLog has decided to postpone the Final Investment Decision (FID) date for the Alexandroupolis LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Greece to late 2018; the FID was previously expected by the end of 2017. GasLog has a 20% in the Alexandroupolis project operator Gastrade.

The Alexandroupolis LNG FSRU is expected to have a capacity of 6.1 bcm/year and a storage capacity of up to 170 000 m3 of LNG. The project cost will reach €370m. The facility will be moored at a fixed location south-west off the port of Alexandroupolis in north-eastern Greece. Engineering company Wood Group secured a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract in June 2017. The project has the support of Greece, Bulgaria and the European Union. Bulgaria is interested in the facility and could import gas from the new terminal through the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) gas pipeline project that the two countries are developing.
