Gas platform shipped to Leviathan gas project off Israel

The gas platform for the Leviathan giant offshore gas project in Israel is being shipped from Texas (United States) to the Israel coast and is expected to be installed in September 2019. Once assembled, Noble Energy will start a series of commissioning tests, with the aim of beginning commercial gas flows to the Israeli gas market by the end of 2019.

The Leviathan gas field was discovered in 2010 and is estimated to hold 605 bcm of gas reserves. It is developed by Delek Drilling (45.34%), Noble Energy (39.66%), and Ratio Oil Exploration (15%), which have already invested US$3.75bn in the development of the reservoir since its discovery. In February 2018, Delek Drilling and Noble Energy signed a long-term gas contract to supply 64 bcm of gas from the Leviathan and Tamar gas fields to Egypt; the Tamar gas field has been operational since 2013. Once Leviathan is operational, partners plan to export at least 9.9 mcm/d to Egypt.
