The French utility Engie has acquired 33 early to late-stage projects totalling 6 GW of solar and battery storage in the United States. The projects, which include 2.7 GW of solar with 0.7 GW of paired storage and 2.6 GW of stand-alone battery storage, were acquired from the American renewable energy company Belltown Power.
The projects are located across the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the Pennsylvania New Jersey Maryland Interconnection LLC, Midcontinent Independent System Operator and Western Electricity Coordinating Council.
Prior to this acquisition, Engie already possessed 3.9 GW of installed renewable capacity in the United States. The company plans to reach 80 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2030.
