France’s energy regulator CRE (Commission de Régulation de l’Energie) has approved the French grid operator RTE’s €1.88bn investment plan for 2023, an increase of 9% compared to 2022. RTE's investment plan for 2023 includes €448m for the reinforcement and creation of infrastructure to accommodate new electricity production and consumption facilities, €486m for the renewal of the existing RTE network, €292m for the connection of offshore wind parks and €110m for the development of new interconnections with neighbouring countries.
In 2022, RTE spent €419m for the reinforcement and creation of infrastructure, €430.5m for the renewal of the network, €369.5m for the connection of offshore wind parks and €56m for the development of new interconnections.
Earlier in February 2023, RTE announced that, in 2022, France’s electricity consumption at normal climate declined by 1.7% and that the power generation decreased by 15%.
