Construction has commenced on Fortescue’s 690 MW Turner River solar park in the Pilbara (Australia) and on a 650 MWh BESS at Cloudbreak integrated directly into the Cloudbreak solar park (Australia). Construction of Turner River is expected to be completed in 2028, while construction of the Cloudbreak BESS is expected to be completed in fiscal year 2027.
Once complete and combined with Fortescue’s 440 MW Solomon Airport solar park, 190 MW Cloudbreak solar park and 100 MW North Star Junction solar park, Fortescue will have delivered all solar generation required to achieve its Real Zero decarbonisation plan across its terrestrial iron ore operations.
These projects, totalling 1.4 GW, form part of Fortescue’s integrated renewable energy ecosystem, the Pilbara Green Grid, which is being built to power the Company’s Pilbara operations with renewable energy.
