Exelon (US) completes spinoff of power generation and competitive energy business

Exelon has completed the separation of Constellation Energy, Exelon’s former power generation and competitive energy business, from its regulated electric and gas activities. The spinoff was announced in February 2021 and is aimed to give each company the strategic and financial independence to focus on its core business strategy. Constellation Energy groups together Exelon's competitive power generation and customer-facing energy branch, including more than 32,400 MW of generating capacity mainly consisting of nuclear, wind, solar, natural gas and hydro assets.

Exelon’s transmission and distribution utility business that serves more than 10 million customers through six fully regulated transmission and distribution utilities - Atlantic City Electric (ACE), Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), Delmarva Power & Light (DPL), PECO Energy Company (PECO), and Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) - will continue to be called Exelon.
