EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company) has entered into a strategic Collaboration Framework Agreement (CFA) with Masdar to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale renewable energy projects in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (Masdar press release, 05/05/2026). The collaboration aims to streamline development of more than 30 GW of solar PV capacity by 2035 and over 8 GW of battery storage (BESS) planned by EWEC.
The country targets 32% of clean sources in the power mix in 2030 (renewables and nuclear). The updated Energy Strategy 2050 (2023) aims to supply 44% of its energy consumption with renewables by 2050 and to triple the capacity of renewables.
