EVN signs contract for Mong Duong I 1000 MW project (Vietnam)

The Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (LILAMA) and Hyundai Engineering and Construction (HDEC) have signed a machinery manufacturing and installation contract for Mong Duong I coal-fired power project in Vietnam.

Under the VND1.6 trillion (US$76.8m) contract, LILAMA will be responsible for the installation of all mechanical and electrical equipment for the plant, including turbine system, breakers, coal-fired boilers, coal transportation and auxiliary systems, underground pipeline networks, and fire protection and detection equipment.

Mong Duong 1 is one of two plants under the Mong Duong Power Centre, and will consist of two turbines with a total installed capacity of 1,080 MW. It is expected to generate 6.5 TWh/year using 3 Mt/year of coal. The $1.7bn plant’s first turbine is expected to put into operation in the first quarter of 2015, and the second turbine will start generating electricity in the third quarter of 2015.
