Eversource completes the sale of its New Hampshire power assets (US)

The US power utility Eversource has completed the sale of its New Hampshire (United States) thermal and hydropower generation assets. The total value of the October 2017 transaction amounted around US$258m and included around 1,200 MW of thermal and hydropower assets.

The five fossil assets have been sold to Granite Shore Power, a 50-50 joint venture between Atlas Holdings and Castleton Commodities International, for US$175m along with two combustion turbine peaking units. They have a total capacity of 1,130 MW, including the 502 MW coal/oil-fired Merrimack power plant (commissioned in 1960), the 416 MW oil/gas-fired Newington power plant (commissioned in 1974) and the 171.7 MW coal-oil/biomass-fired Schiller power plant (commissioned in 1952). As per the agreement, Granite Shore Power must keep the facilities in service for at least 18 months.

Eversource has also completed the sale of its nine hydropower facilities (68.2 MW) in New Hampshire to Hull Street Energy and its subsidiaries for US$83m.
