Eurowind Energy obtains grid connection approvals for 2.3 GW in Romania

Eurowind Energy Romania has secured technical grid connection approvals for seven renewable energy projects in Romania totalling 2.3 GW, spanning wind, solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) technologies (Ecowind Energy announcement, 27/08/2026).

The projects are:

  • Albești – 900 MW, wind, Constanța County
  • Mănești – 49 MW, PV + BESS, Prahova County
  • Botoșani County – 1,188 MW, wind
  • Stăncuța – 49.6 MW, wind, Brăila County
  • Liești – 49.6 MW, wind, Galați County
  • Slobozia Conachi – 49.6 MW, wind, Galați County
  • Pechea – 21.6 MW, wind, Galați County

“The projects are scheduled to connect to the national energy system after 2030, but their connection and the completion of the investment depend on grid reinforcement, and the timely issuance of construction permits” stated the company’s country manager in Romania.

Eurowind Energy is a Danish company focused on the development, construction and operation of renewable energy parks. Its portfolio covers wind, solar, hydrogen, biogas, power-to-heat solutions and battery storage projects. The company’s Romanian portfolio currently comprises four operational solar parks (Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești and Teiuș) as well as one wind park, Pecineaga, and a development pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW across various stages. Eurowind Energy has 184 MW of installed capacity in operation in Romania, including 60 MW of battery storage.

According to our data, Romania has an installed capacity of more than 23 GW, 76% of which is CO2-free (29% hydro, 27% solar, 14% wind, 6% nuclear, and 1% biomass) and about 24% thermal (13% lignite, 6% gas, and 5% oil) (end of 2025).
