Erection of the dome upon the Hongyanhe-6 containment building (China)

The Chinese State Nuclear Power Technology Company (SNPTC) announced that the dome has been installed upon the containment building of the 1,080 MWe Hongyanhe-6 nuclear unit (Liaoning province, China). The company reported that the unit has now entered the equipment installation phase.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant consists of four existing 1,087 MWe CPR-1000 pressurized water reactors (first phase) and two 1,080 MWe China General Nuclear (CGN)-designed ACPR1000 reactors which will form the second phase of the plant. The first two reactors were commissioned in June 2013 and May 2014, respectively, and unit 3 in August 2015. The construction of the fourth unit started in August 2009. It reached criticality in March 2016 and was connected to the grid one month later. The construction of the Hongyanhe-5 and Hongyanhe-6 started respectively in March and July 2015. The reactors are expected to be commissioned respectively in November 2019 and in August 2020.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant is owned and operated by Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power, a joint venture between CGNPC and China Power Investment (45% each), while the Dalian Municipal Construction Investment holds 10%.
