The Brazilian Institute of the Environment (Ibama) has granted the preliminary license for oil and gas production activities to Equinor’s Raia Project in the Campos Basin. The project plans to do all gas processing at sea, eliminating the need for onshore facilities.
In addition, the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has approved the construction of a 200 km gas pipeline (16 mcm/d) that will connect the Raia FPSO to Cabiúnas (Macaé, Rio de Janeiro) by 2028, and has authorised the fusion of the Raia Manta and Raia Pintada into one block and production unit area named Raia Mantada. Equinor will have to present within 60 days a new development plan for the unified area.
The Raia Project is operated by Equinor (35%), in partnership with Repsol Sinopec (35%) and Petrobras (30%), is comprised of three pre-salt discoveries with recoverable reserves of natural gas and oil/condensate exceeding 1 Gboe. The project is based on production by wells connected to a126 kb/d FPSO capable of treating the oil/condensate and specify the gas produced.
