Norway’s Equinor has entered into a three-year agreement with the Polish energy group Orlen to supply crude oil from the Johan Sverdrup field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), starting in September 2026 (Equinor press release, 20/08/2026).
Under the deal, Orlen will receive between 5 Mt and more than 9 Mt of crude oil annually, representing up to one-quarter of the company’s yearly crude oil demand.
The agreement also provides the option to supply other crude grades produced from fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
According to Orlen, the new deal builds on its existing cooperation with Equinor and will reinforce the security and stability of crude oil supplies to refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania.
Equinor describes Johan Sverdrup as the highest-producing oil field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, highlighting its importance to European energy supplies.
