Equinor granted 34-year lifetime extension afor Tordis and Vigdis fields (Norway)

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor approval to extend the lifetime of another two installations on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS), namely Tordis and Vigdis oil fields both in block 34/7 in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea (Norway). The fields will have a life extension of 34 years until December 2036 and December 2040 respectively.

The Tordis oil field embraces the Tordis Øst (1998), Borg (1999) and Tordis Sørøst (2001) fields. It has been operating since 1994. The Vigdis field came on stream in 1997 and comprises the Borg Nordvest and Vigdis Øst structures. Companies engaged in both fields are Equinor (operator), Petoro, ExxonMobil, Idemitsu Petroleum and DEA Norge.

In March 2019, Equinor was granted lifetime extensions of another eight installations in the NCS,  Gullfaks A, B and C (2036), Oseberg East (2031), Snorre A and B (2040), Norne (2036) and Åsgard A (2030). The company plans to acquire lifetime extensions for 20 installations in total including Troll B and Heidrun Subsea.
