EPCC contract awarded for Malaysia LNG Dua refurbishment (Malaysia)

Malaysia LNG Dua, a joint venture of the Malaysian state-owned oil company Petroleum Nasional Berhad (Petronas) (60%), Shell (15%), Mitsubishi Corporation (15%), and the Sarawak state government (10%), has awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract to JGC for refurbishment works on an LNG plant in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The purpose of this project is the refurbishment of the 4th, 5th, and 6th LNG trains (2.6 Mt/year each) at the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu (the existing eight trains are currently in operation, while a 9th train is currently under construction by JGC.) JGC was awarded the front end engineering and design (FEED) work for the replacement of the main cryogenic heat exchanger for Train 4 in 2012. In 2013, JGC received a competitive tender for EPCC, and now, as part of a consortium, has been awarded the EPCC work for refurbishment of Train 4, as well as engineering and a portion of the procurement work associated with the refurbishment of Train 5 and Train 6. Work is scheduled for completion in January 2019.
