E.ON stabilizes its grid with wind power electricity (Germany)

The German energy utility company E.ON has been able to stabilize the German grid with wind power for the first time. This is a landmark change which can help the company to cope with the fluctuating feed-in of wind power which has always been an issue for grid stability and supply security.

The electricity generated from wind parks was difficult regarding the purpose of balancing power and maintaining the grid stability for the transmission network. It was difficult to compensate the unpredicted fluctuations in generation and consumption.

Until now, only electricity from hydroelectric power plants and biogas power plants were the only renewable sources which could contribute to the grid stability and bring a steady feed-in.

From now on, E.ON managed to integrate one wind farm into E.ON's virtual Power Plant. This fits into E.ON's strategy which plans to increase the share of wind power in its generating mix.
