Capgemini will deliver a range of smart meter management services for electricity and gas to E.ON power grid. This agreement between Capgemini Sverige and E.ON Elnät stretches to 2018. Thanks to this deal, E.ON will consolidate its service providers, IT systems and operations in Sweden.
Due to Swedish legislative requirements introduced in the late 1990s, E.ON conducted a variety of installation projects that would ensure its smart meter services to customers. EU requirements, combined with future demands by Nordic legislation (for example around a common Nordic retail market), changes the future role of Network companies including E.ON’s power grid. Based on these changes, Capgemini has developed a solution enabling E.ON to consolidate its current smart metering services in an efficient and quality assured manner.
The contract includes management of just under half of E.ON’s portfolio of smart meters in Sweden and encompasses a range of services including regular and scheduled meter reading, field services, service desk, management reporting, data centre hosting and application management. Capgemini will also be responsible for managing subcontractors, such as telecommunications, software providers and field service providers.
