The Israeli renewable project developer Enlight has announced that its 1.2 GW CO Bar Complex solar+storage project in Arizona (United States) has reached "major development milestones" and is now "advancing the project into full-scale execution".
The project consists of 5 stages with a combined solar generation capacity of 1,211 MW and energy storage capacity of 4 GWh, with the first two stages already entering into construction; construction works would start at the three other stages in the next 12 months. Commercial operation is expected in stages from 2027 through 2028. CO Bar 1 will include 258 MW of solar capacity and 824 MWh of energy storage, CO Bar 2 and CO Bar 3 will add 480 MW and 473 MW of solar capacity, respectively, while CO Bar 4 and CO Bar 5 are storage-only projects providing 1,600 MWh and 1,576 MWh of energy storage, respectively.
The total investment is expected to be approximately US$2.9-3bn. The project has entered into a 1 GW AC Large Generator Interconnection Agreement. The company also recently signed two 20-year busbar Energy Service Agreements with Salt River Project for the Energy Storage stages, CO Bar 4 and 5.
