Eni wins 15-year LNG supply tender in Pakistan

Pakistan state-owned gas group Pakistan LNG has selected Gunvor and Eni as LNG suppliers in two separate tenders for the supply of 240 cargoes of LNG until 2032, representing a total volume of 33.6 mcm (based on a nominal cargo capacity of 140,000 m3).

The tenders were issued in November 2016, for 60 cargoes over a five-year period and 180 cargoes over a 15-year period. Gunvor will supply 12 cargoes per year over a 5-year period i.e. 1.68 mcm/year, while Eni will supply 12 cargoes per year over a 15-year period i.e. 1.68 mcm/year. Under both tenders, LNG deliveries will start in July 2017 and would be made on a DES (delivered ex-ship) basis to the future LNG import terminal operated by Pakistan GasPort Consortium at Port Qasim.

Pakistan GasPort is developing the second LNG import terminal in Pakistan. The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) is currently under construction at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea and is expected to be commissioned in early 2017. The FSRU will have a regasification capacity of 6.2 bcm/year and a storage capacity of 170,000 m3.
