Eni starts production at its Ochigufu deep offshore oil project (Angola)

Eni and the state-run oil and gas company of Angola Sonangol have begun to produce oil from the Ochigufu deep offshore project, located in Block 15/06, approximately 150 km west from Soyo (Angola). The asset's early stage will add 25,000 bbl/d to the company's current production levels (around 150,000 bbl/d).

The field is connected to the Sangos production system and the N'Goma FPSO vessel in the West Hub of the Block 15/06, operated by Sonangol (36.84%) while Eni and SSI Fifteen Limited own respectively 36.84% and 26.32%. The Block 15/06 is estimated to hold 3 Gbl of oil in place and 850 mbl of reserves.

Ochigufu is part of the West Hub Development Project, which also encompasses the offshore Sangos, Cinguvu, Mpungi, Mpungi North and Vandumbu assets. The Sangos field came onstream in 2015, while the Mpungi and Mpungi North fields started production in 2016. Vandumbu is currently expected to come onstream by early 2019. After Ochigufu, the next stage will be the UM8 reservoir in East Hub and the completion of the Subsea Boosting System for the Mpungi field.
