Eni starts producing oil from Area 1 offshore Mexico

Eni has started the early production phase from the Miztón oil and gas field in Area 1, in the Campeche Bay offshore Mexico. The group was awarded a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the development of the Area 1, which includes the Amoca, Miztón and Tecoalli fields, in Mexico's second oil auction in September 2015. Area 1 is estimated to hold 2.1 Gboe of hydrocarbons in place, of which 90% is oil. The early production phase is expected to produce up to 15,000 bbl/d of oil and will reach a plateau level of 100,000 bbl/d when a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facility (FPSO) will be installed in early 2021. Eni also plans to install two additional platforms on the Amoca field and one on the Tecoalli field.

Eni has been active in Mexico since 2006. The company holds rights and is operator in six exploration and production blocks in the Sureste Basin.
