Italy’s energy group Eni has started the Phase 2 of Congo LNG ahead of schedule and it expects to ship its first LNG cargo in early 2026 (Eni press release, 02/12/2025). The project consists of three production platforms, a gas treatment and compression unit and the 2.4 Mt/year Nguya FLNG for liquefaction and export.
The Phase 1 of the Congo LNG consists of the 0.6 Mt/year FLNG Tango, which has been operational since 2024, and storage capacity for 80,000 m3 of LNG and 45,000 m3 of LPG. With the addition of the Nguya FLNG, the overall capacity of the project adds up to 3 Mt/year or 4.5 bcm/year for the full development of the gas resources from the offshore Nené and Litchendjili fields, in the Marine XII concession.
