Eni closes acquisition of two BP gas fields in Algeria

Eni has completed the acquisition of BP business in Algeria, regarding the two gas-producing concessions In Amenas and In Salah after the transaction secured approval by the competent national and antitrust authorities. The In Amenas and In Salah assets, which are jointly operated with Sonatrach and Equinor, are located in the Southern Sahara and their production of gas and associated liquids began in 2006 and 2004 respectively. In 2021, they produced 11 bcm of gas and 12 mbl of condensates and LPG.

Following these acquisitions and the development programmes underway in the Berkine basin, Eni's production in Algeria will rise to over 130,000 boe/d. In 2021, the country produced 59 Mt of crude oil and NGL and 103 bcm of natural gas.
