Enhance Energy has started construction of the Origins CCS Hub in Alberta (Canada) (Enhance Energy press release, 09/09/2026). Located near Clive, Alberta, the facility is expected to begin operations in January 2027 and will initially have the capacity to permanently store up to 1.5 MtCO2/year, with scope for future expansion.
The Origins hub will be connected to Alberta’s existing CO2 transportation network and will initially receive emissions from heavy industrial facilities. The project is designed to serve a range of hard-to-abate sectors, including oil and gas, power generation, hydrogen, cement and petrochemicals, particularly along the Edmonton-Calgary industrial corridor.
It is supported by federal funding through Natural Resources Canada and has been approved as a carbon sequestration hub by the Government of Alberta. Enhance Energy already operates the Clive CO₂ Sequestration Facility, which has stored more than 9 MtCO2 to date.
