Engie inks several renewable energy deals in South East Asia

Engie signed eight agreements in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia in order to enhance its presence in the region. The Group already has a significant presence in the Asia Pacific where it accounts 6,800 employees. The increasing power and energy services demand is a key driver for its strategy in the region.

In Indonesia, the company inked three partnership agreements regarding the development of micro grid and renewable energies projects for a total amount of US$1.25bn over the next 5 years.

In Malaysia, Engie reached an agreement with Sime Darby regarding the joint development of projects in solar energies.

In Singapore, the company closed one deal with Bolloré and Senoko Eneregy regarding the future co-development of smart city solutions, one agreement with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Schneider Electric regarding micro grid solutions. The company also set up an International Research Network which will focus mainly on smart grids, power systems, energy storage and PV.

The rationale behind the agreements is to promote energy transition in Asia.
