Engie has officially inaugurated its new 875 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant at Flémalle in Belgium. The facility has been available to the grid since October 2025 and was selected in 2021 under Belgium's Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) to support security of electricity supply.
The power plant is designed to provide flexible generation capacity to complement the growing share of renewable energy in the Belgian power system. With an efficiency of 63%, it can generate between 4.4 TWh/year and 5.3 TWh/year of electricity. It represents an investment of EUR650m.
