Engie commissions the 262 MW Ras Ghareb wind park (Egypt)

Engie Africa has achieved the construction of the 262.5 MW Ras Ghareb wind park in the Gulf of Suez (Egypt), which has been commissioned. The project has been built under the Egyptian government’s Build, Own, Operate (BOO) framework by a consortium comprising Engie (40%), Toyota Tsusho Corporation/Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation (40%) and Orascom Construction (20%) for a total investment of US$380m.

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) buys the electricity produced under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Egypt targets the development of 7 GW of wind generation capacity by 2022.
