Energy Transfer plans intrastate natural gas pipeline to Permian Basin (US)

The US-based energy infrastructure group Energy Transfer has reached a positive final investment decision (FID) to build an intrastate natural gas pipeline in Texas (United States) to connect the Permian basin production to premier market and trading hubs.

The Hugh Brinson pipeline (previously known as the Warrior pipeline) is proposed to be developed in two phases for an estimated total investment of US$2.7bn. The first phase includes the construction of the 1.5 bcf/d (15.5 bcm/year) Midland Lateral gas pipeline, which will stretch over about 645 km between Waha and Maypearl (Texas) and will come online by the end of 2026. In a second phase, the company will construct a 2.2 bcf/d (22.7 bcm/year) new pipeline connecting Energy Transfer and third-party processing plants in Martin and Midland Counties to the Hugh Brinson Pipeline over 70 km. Construction works could begin at the same time as the first phase, depending on shipper demand.

Energy Transfer owns and operates a diversified portfolio of energy assets in the United States, with more than 200,000 km of pipeline and associated energy infrastructure.
