Enercon wins a new order for a 400 MW wind project in Vietnam

The German wind turbines manufacturer Enercon has signed a supply contract with the Trungnam Group for the 400 MW Ea Nam onshore wind project in the Dak Lak province (Vietnam). The wind project entered construction in 2020 and is scheduled to be commissioned in 2021.

Enercon entered the Vietnamese market in 2019. The group recently completed the construction of a 64 MW wind project in the Ninh Thua province and is already working on a 12-turbine wind project (48 MW) for the Trungnam Group. In April 2020, the group won turbine orders for six wind projects in Vietnam, with a combined capacity of 310 MW. The projects are expected to be commissioned by the end of 2021 and will benefit from feed-in tariffs (FiT).

In 2016, the government approved the Vietnam Renewable Energy Development Strategy to 2030 with an outlook up to 2050. Under the plan, the government aimed to reach 10.7% of renewable power generation by 2020 and to boost wind capacity to 800 MW by 2020, 2 GW by 2025 and 6 GW by 2030. In 2019, wind capacity rose by 138 MW to 375 MW.
