Enel has started building two renewable power projects in Peru, namely the 177 MW expansion of the Wayra I wind plant and the 123 MW Clemesi solar project. The Wayra I expansion project, located in the department of Ica, entails an investment of US$189m and the installation of 30 wind turbines rated 5.9 MW each. The 123 MW Clemesi solar project is being built in the department of Moquegua at a cost of US$78m. Both projects should be commissioned in 2023.
The National Energy Plan 2014-2025 sets a renewable target of 60% in the primary energy supply in 2025, including 54% from hydropower and 6% from other renewables (up from 12% in 2020). The total installed capacity stood at 15.3 GW at the end of 2020, with thermal accounting for 60% (oil 34%, gas 24%), hydro for 36%, and wind and solar for 2% each.
