Enel Green Power, part of the Enel group (Italy), has been awarded the right to develop a total of 344 MW of wind and photovoltaic capacity in Brazil during the "Leilão de Reserva" public tender. The company will develop the 254 MW Ituverava solar PV project and the 90 MW Delfina wind project, both located in the State of Bahia (northeastern Brazil). The group will invest about US$600m in the project, with 2/3 of this amount directed to the solar PV project. The plants are expected to generate 900 GWh/year, with power sold under 20-year power purchase agreements to the Brazilian Chamber of Commercialization of Electric Energy (CCEE – Camara de Comercializaçao da Energia Eletrica).
During the Leilão de Reserva, 62 renewable projects were awarded, including 31 wind projects with a capacity of 890 MW and 31 solar projects with a capacity of 769 MW. The plants will be installed in the states of Bahia (30), Ceará (2), Goiás (1), Minas Gerais (3), Paraíba (1), California (3), Piauí (3), Rio Grande do Norte (10) and São Paulo (9). The plants are expected to start generation as of October 2017.
