Enel Green Power, the renewable arm of Italian energy group Enel, added 1 GW of new renewable capacity in 2014, raising its power generation by 9% to 2.5 TWh. The group added 534 MW in Latin America (398 MW of wind and 136 MW of solar), 400 MW in North America (from wind), 56 MW in Europe (18 MW of wind and 38 MW of biomass) and 10 MW of solar capacity in South Africa. The company has 2 GW of projects in execution (54% from wind, 34% from solar, 8% from hydro and 4% from biomass), mainly in Latin America (49%), in North America (21%) and in Europe (5%).
Enel Green Power generated 31.8 TWh in 2014, compared to 29.3 TWh in 2013 (+2.2 TWh from additional capacity).
The group invested €1,644m in 2014 (86% for growth and 14% for maintenance): investments were focused on Latin America (58%), North America (17%), Europe (23%) and South Africa (2%).
In 2015, Enel Green Power expects to sell a minority interest in a portfolio of 700 MW (46% wind, 37% hydro and 14% geothermal-solar). EGP's 2014 net income declined by 32% in 2014 to €359m (€528m in 2013), due to a €231m impairment charge on its operations in Greece.
