Enel Green Power acquires a 1 GW solar+storage project in Australia

Enel Green Power Australia (EGPA), a joint venture of Enel Green Power and INPEX Renewable, has reached an agreement with the UK renewable project developer RES to acquire RES's 1 GW Tallawang solar-battery energy storage project, located near Gulgong, in New South Wales (Australia) for an undisclosed amount.

The project, located in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), includes a 500 MW solar park and a 500 MW / 1000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Commissioning will be aligned with the delivery of the recently approved Central-West Orana transmission project, whose construction is expected to begin in early 2025 and to be completed by 2028, with the project expected to be fully operational by 2030.

The completion of the acquisition is subject to typical conditions for transactions of this nature, including Foreign Investment Review Board Approval.
