Enel Green Power has completed the installation of wind turbines at its 274 MW Dolores onshore wind project, located in the city of China, Nuevo Leon (Mexico). The US$290m power plant, which is supported a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the National Energy Control Centre (CENACE), is expected to generate 938 GWh/year. In addition, the project received clean energy certificates for 20 years.
The Dolores wind project was awarded to Enel Green Power in the third long-term auction of 2017. In addition, the company won three other projects in the same tender: 103 MW Amistad II, 108 MW Amistad III and 162 MW Amistad IV, all located in Acuña, Coahuila.
As of September 2020, wind power accounts for 8% of Mexico’s installed capacity, with 6.6 GW. Almost 2.4 GW of capacity is under construction, and 5.7 GW under development.
