Enel Colombia, the Colombian subsidiary of the Italian renewable energy group Enel Green Power, has begun commercial operations on its 370 MW Guayepo I&II solar plant, located in the communities of Ponedera and Sabanalarga, in the department of Atlántico (Colombia). The solar plant extends over an area of 1,110 ha and deploys 820,600 interconnected panels (595 Wp bifacial modules on trackers) in 69 subfields, with the capacity to generate about 1,030 GWh/year, enough to supply 1.5 million people. The Guayepo I&II solar plant has already signed a 15-year PPA with Bavaria to power its beer brewery with clean energy.
With the addition of the Guayepo I&II solar project, Enel has four solar plants installed in Colombia, namely the 370 MW Guayepo I&II, the 150 MW La Loma, the 86.2 MW El Paso, and the 90 MW Foundacion. Enel Colombia aims to reach almost 700 MW of installed capacity.
